Some students have trouble when they write an essay or a report for an assignment. Construction of compositions, selection of words and transitions—all of these elements may seem difficult to comprehend. For students who may worry about these things, the Writing Center at Columbia College can help.

At the Writing Center, students can be assisted with developing ideas for a paper or a thesis and organizing an essay. Also, they can receive help when working on research and analysis and MLA/APA guidelines, as well as editing and revising papers.
The Writing Center also offers tutoring services for subjects such as science, business, computer science and languages, said Lynda Dunham, tutoring services coordinator. If students want to take better notes in class and improve reading as well as problem-solving skills, tutoring programs may help them.
To get help from the Writing Center, students must first schedule an appointment. The Writing Center is located in 212 Missouri Hall. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.
